La famille Cybulski nommée Juste parmi les Nations

Aleksandra Cybulska, une habitante de Gdynia âgée de 100 ans, a été nommée Juste parmi les Nations, le 19 octobre 2017. Avec son mari, elle a sauvé Sonia Berkowicz, alors âgée de 8 ans.

La famille de Sonia Berkowicz a été déplacée par les Allemands vers le ghetto de Klecko, près de Minsk (aujourd’hui en Biélorussie). Au printemps 1942, avec son frère et sa soeur, Sonia a frappé à la porte d’Aleksandra et de Kazimierz Cybulski, dans le village de Jakszyce, pour demander de la nourriture. Tous les enfants sont restés dans la maison pendant quelques jours, mais Sonia, qui a tissé des liens d’amitié avec le petit Kazimierz Cybulski (fils), est restée plus longtemps, en tant que membre de la famille.

Avec l’aide d’un prêtre local, un faux certificat de baptême a été alors délivré pour Sonia, qui est restée avec les Cybulski jusqu’en 1943, puis, quand cela est devenu nécessaire, elle a été placée chez d’autres membres de la famille, dans une autre région. Après la guerre, Aleksandra et Kazimierz ramenèrent Sonia à la maison, et elle resta avec eux jusqu’à ce qu’une organisation juive Coordinatsia la prenne sous ses ailes. Aujourd’hui, Sonia Liberman a 84 ans et vit aux Etats-Unis avec ses trois enfants. Elle qualifie la famille Cybulski de ses « anges ».

Cybulski Family – new Righteous Among the Nations

Aleksandra Cybulska, a 100-year-old Gdynia resident, has received the title of Righteous Among the Nations on October 19, 2017. She and her husband saved Sonia Berkowicz, then a 8 years old Jewish girl.

Sonia Berkowicz’s family was displaced by the Germans to the Ghetto in Klecko, near Minsk (today in Belarus). In the spring of 1942, with her siblings, she came to the house of Aleksandra and Kazimierz Cybulski in Jakszyce village to ask for food. All children stayed in the house for a few days, yet Sonia, who befriended with Kazimierz Cybulski Jr, stayed for longer as a family member.

With help of a local priest, a fake baptism certificate was issued for Sonia, who stayed with the family till 1943, when she was send to another members of the Cybulski family. After the war, Aleksandra and Kazimierz took Sonia back home, and she stayed with them till a Jewish organization Coordinatsia took her under its wings. Today, Sonia Liberman is 84 and lives in the US with her three children, calling the Cybulski family her “angels”.
