Bejt Almin – la Maison de l’éternité, exposition au cimetière juif de Bródno, Varsovie

Jusqu’à récemment, cet endroit était presque inconnu, bien qu’il soit le plus ancien et le plus grand cimetière juif de Varsovie en termes de sépultures (320 000 personnes). Il a été fondé en 1780 par Szmul Jakubowicz Zbytkower. Dans les années 1980, la Fondation de la famille Nissenbaum s’est occupée du cimetière détruit et oublié. En 2012, il a été remis à la communauté juive de Varsovie.

Les invités à l’inauguration de l’exposition ont été accueillis par Anna Chipczyńska, présidente du conseil d’administration de la communauté juive de Varsovie. Gideon Nissenbaum, président de la Fondation Nissenbaum, Jakub Beczek, représentant de la chancellerie du président de la République de Pologne, Hadasa Nissan, attaché culturel de l’ambassade d’Israël, et le grand rabbin de Pologne, Michael Schudrich, ont prononcé des discours. La prière El Male Rakhamim – Dieu plein de miséricorde – commémorant les personnes enterrées dans ce cimetière a été prononcé par le rabbin Oriel Zaretsky.

Bejt Almin – House of Eternity exhibition opened at the Jewish Cemetery in Bródno, Warsaw.

Until recently, this place was an almost unknown, although it is the oldest and the largest Jewish cemetery in Warsaw in terms of burials (320,000 people). It was founded in 1780 by Szmul Jakubowicz Zbytkower.  In the 1980s, the Nissenbaum Family Foundation took care of the destroyed and forgotten cemetery. In 2012, it was handed over to the Jewish Community in Warsaw.

The guests were greeted by Anna Chipczyńska, the Chairwoman of the Board of the Jewish Community in Warsaw. Speeches were given by Gideon Nissenbaum, President of the Nissenbaum Foundation, Jakub Beczek, representative of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Hadasa Nissan – Cultural Attaché of the Israeli Embassy, and the chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich. Prayer El Male Rachamim – God full of mercy – commemorating people buried in this cemetery was pronounced by Rabbi Oriel Zaretsky.
